'Translation' was a joined exhibition between Glasgow School of Art (UK) and Central Academy of Fine Arts (Beijing) Graphic Design students. Each participant was asked to produce a piece of work related to the theme 'Translation'. Exhibition took place in Beijing 2009.
This is a piece of work prepared for the exhibition. I was looking at the increasing role of Internet in our daily lifes. Nowadays, the internet has become such a powerful tool of communication, that our personal information is oating around and is manipulated by different machines which later translate it into personal target marketing schemes. More websites are visited more of our personal information is being collected, therefore, more spam letters are being sent to an individual.
I have chosen to create a pattern that is found inside envelopes using the titles of spam letters I have been receiving. Reading those titles allows the viewer to see how my personal information has been translated.
